According to tribal myth the world itself was formed from the primal chaos.
Amidst light beyond all brightness of light, and sound beyond all loudness of sound, in the roiling maelstrom of the deeps all that is came together from all that was before.
No entity formed it, except the roiling maelstrom. No god fashioned it, nor eye saw, nor ear heard; for none could have stood its terror and cacophony.
So all that is came to be, as the unformed storm went its way through the depths.
There are some who say that this is all there is; that once there was not, and now there is (and some who add that soon all will not be once more).
Yet there are others, hearing the same story, envisioning that beyond vision who say, "Stay, for there is Another in the darkness" and that Another is Chance, for without her nothing would be, and all that is would never have been.
Even so her sword has two sharp edges, for with her who shall know whether that which was not, and now is, may soon not be once more?
Who knows whether this has all gone before, as the maelstrom tears its way through the deeps?
And so they say 'Why are we here?'
And their reply, ' The action of Chance'.
The Pxin are by their nature a mystical, and fatalistic, ethnic group, and their belief could be defined as non-systematic, even chaotic. Indeed their ‘faith’ could be described more as a philosophical system than a religion....
