As part of my training I have to use psalm prayers, that is prayers after the psalms used in corporate worship. (Whether you agree with their use or not it is within the tradition of the church). There are plenty available, but I prefer to write my own, which I offer here as a resource.
It will be updated as I write more..
Lord Jesus Christ,
In your love and mercy
guard us from the attacks of all who would harm us,
in this world and in the spiritual realm.
Keep us walking in your ways,
that we may shelter beneath the shield of your love,
and so see the attacks of our enemies come to nothing:
through your mighty power.
Amen
Almighty Father,
Grant that as we put our trust in you
we may live upright and just lives.
By the obedience that comes through faith
and empowered by your Spirit
may we escape the snares of this world
and so join you in heaven with all the saints.
We ask this in the name of your Son,
our saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen
Almighty Father,
In a world that so often ignores your presence
and scorns your ways
reveal your righteousness and power in our lives
through the action of your Holy and Life-giving Spirit.
May we, following the example of the Risen Christ,
fulfill our part in the shaping of your
Kingdom here on the Earth,
that your name may be honoured and glorified.
Amen.
Lord God,
It is only through your goodness
shown in the redeeming death of your Son, Jesus Christ,
that we may stand in your holy presence.
Grant us such grace, through your Holy Spirit,
that we may serve you aright in all our words and actions,
Amen.
Almighty God,
Thank you that you have chosen to share the knowledge
and power of your redeeming love with all the nations.
Use us, we pray, as witnesses to the salvation that comes through Jesus Christ, your Son;
that all the peoples of the world may find their joy in you.
(We ask this in the Name of Jesus)
Amen.
Father,
you promised through your Son, Jesus Christ,
that you would never leave nor forsake us,
even when we feel totally deserted.
Guide all those who love you,
and bring comfort by your Sprirt to all those who feel lost and alone
among the worries and troubles of this world.
(We ask this in the Name of Jesus)
Amen.
